# Keyboard Shortcuts

> Faster ways to use BirdTab with your keyboard.

Use these shortcuts when a BirdTab new tab is focused.

## Global shortcuts

| Shortcut                     | Action                      |
| ---------------------------- | --------------------------- |
| `Ctrl` + `K` (Windows/Linux) | Focus search box            |
| `Cmd` + `K` (macOS)          | Focus search box            |
| `Arrow Up`                   | Increase volume by 10%      |
| `Arrow Down`                 | Decrease volume by 10%      |
| `Escape`                     | Clear and blur search input |

## Quiz shortcuts

| Shortcut        | Action                                         |
| --------------- | ---------------------------------------------- |
| `Q`             | Start quiz (or request exit if quiz is active) |
| `1` `2` `3` `4` | Pick answer option                             |
| `Enter`         | Next question after answering                  |

## Timer shortcuts

When timer setup is focused:

| Shortcut                     | Action                             |
| ---------------------------- | ---------------------------------- |
| `Tab` / `Shift` + `Tab`      | Move between hours/minutes/seconds |
| `Arrow Left` / `Arrow Right` | Move between time fields           |
| `Arrow Up` / `Arrow Down`    | Increase or decrease active field  |
| Number keys                  | Enter digits for active field      |
| `Backspace`                  | Remove a digit                     |

## Notes

* Shortcuts are ignored while typing in input fields where relevant.
* If a shortcut does not work, click anywhere on the BirdTab page first, then try again.
