# Birds From Your Country or the World

> Choose a country in Settings to see its birds on every new tab, or keep World for species from every continent.

BirdTab can show birds from the whole world or from one country. With **World**, each new tab can bring a species from a different continent, from tropical parrots and hummingbirds to eagles and owls. Pick a country and every new tab shows a bird that lives there.

## Choose a region

1. Click the **gear icon** in the bottom-right corner and choose **Settings**.
2. Open **Birding Region** and pick **World** or a country. Country names are shown in your browser's language.

The bird on screen stays while BirdTab downloads the birds for your new region. The menu shows "Loading birds for India…" while it works, and the next new tab shows a bird from the new region. If the download fails, BirdTab keeps your previous region and tells you, and you can try again.

## Which birds are included

* **World:** 500 species from every continent.
* **A country:** up to 300 of the birds found there, most common first.

Every bird has a photo and a recording. BirdTab checks for an updated set of birds about once a day in the background; if your country isn't in an update, the region goes back to World.

## About the photos and recordings

Photos come from iNaturalist, Wikimedia Commons, Pexels, Unsplash, and Pixabay. Recordings come from Xeno-canto and Wikimedia Commons. Range maps in the bird info panel are embedded from [eBird](https://ebird.org), so you can see where each species lives.
