# International Regions

> Explore birds from 200+ regions across the globe.

By default, BirdTab shows birds from **North America**. Pro users can switch to any of 200+ regions worldwide to discover birds from completely different ecosystems and continents.

## Changing your region

  <Step title="Open Settings">
    Click the gear icon in the bottom-right corner.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select a region">
    Click the **Birding Region** dropdown and choose any region from the list.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Done">
    Your preference saves immediately. The next day's bird (or next refresh) will be from your selected region.

## Available regions

BirdTab supports 200+ countries and territories. Region names display in your current interface language.

  Free users are locked to **United States** only. The region dropdown is visible in Settings but other regions prompt a Pro upgrade when selected.

## About bird coverage

All regions are sourced from the [Macaulay Library](https://www.macaulaylibrary.org/) at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. Coverage varies by region — more populated birding regions generally have a deeper pool of photographs and recordings available.
